After decades in nursing, we saw the cracks in the system.
Home care had become rushed checklists. Caregivers were burning out, and families were left without the safety and tenderness they needed most. Too often, speed replaced compassion, and tasks replaced true care.

Meet the Leadership
Denise Temple BSc, LPN, CLC, NLP
Founder & Director of Care
I grew up in a small seaside town in Nova Scotia, where resilience and community shaped me. Those values guide me as I lead Ascent with compassion and strength.
With 16 years in nursing, 5 years teaching health care programs at Bow Valley College, and now pursuing my master’s in dementia care, I bring both expertise and lived experience to every family we support.
At home, I’m grounded by my two British Shorthair cats, who remind me daily what “home” should feel like—safe, warm, and connected.
Mary Pinkney
Admin & Finance Director
As the behind-the-scenes anchor of Ascent, I make sure everything runs smoothly for families, caregivers, and our leadership team. From scheduling to payroll to operations, I keep the foundation steady so care never skips a beat.
My background is in accounting, but my heart is in service. As the daughter navigating tough choices for aging parents, I know firsthand how heavy it can feel. That’s why I bring clarity, consistency, and compassion to every family we serve.
